Latin America New Zealand Business Council

The LATIN AMERICA NEW ZEALAND BUSINESS COUNCIL was formed in 1991, from a merger of the previous Mexico/NZ and Chile/NZ Business Councils. It is a voluntary grouping of New Zealand business people interested in supporting and encouraging business links between the countries of Latin America and New Zealand.  It receives no funds from the Government, and operates totally independently from the Government.

Contractors Bonding Limited (CBL)

CBL is able to provide a wide range of surety and bonding and credit insurance products, on both an insurance and reinsurance basis. CBL was founded nearly 40 years ago and our heritage has been in providing credit surety and financial risk in many countries around the world, including Latin America, which has become an important part of CBL’s international business for over 6 years now mostly by way of reinsurance of local insurers.

CBL provides its services in Latin America and currently insures over 250,000 homes in Mexico for latent defect damage. The photo below shows some of the 250,000 homes being built in Mexico that CBL has on risk.

In 2009 CBL provided a ship building bond for the EISA shipbuilding yard in Sao Paulo. This ship was successfully completed with much fanfare as shown in the photo below.

CBL looks forward to continuing to grow its presence in Latin America during 2010 beyond its current relationships in Mexico, Panama and Ecuador, and would welcome any enquiries about bonding, credit or financial risk insurance.
